CrowderGulf will assess whether a second pass is needed once all routes are complete.

Wednesday-Routes

Collection Schedule Thursday, April 3

  • Trash/Recycling Collections: Thursday Routes
  • Bulk Collections: Thursday Routes
  • Brush/Storm Debris Collections: Wednesday Routes

CURRENT PROGRESS: CrowderGulf has completed the first pass of storm debris collection for Tuesday's routes and moved on to Wednesday's routes. Some debris may still be visible due to new items being set out or debris that was blocked during the first pass. After CrowderGulf finishes collecting all routes in the City, they will assess if a second pass is necessary.

WHAT'S NEXT: Crews will work on Wednesday's routes until completion, following the order of regular collection days from Tuesday through Monday. Republic Services is adding extra support starting with bulk waste, then helping with storm debris when possible.  Residents may observe one truck may pass up bulk or brush, as each type of truck has been allocated to collect a specific type of material. Republic services is collecting household bulk, such as mattresses, tables, etc., while Crowder Gulf is collecting storm debris, such as fencing or roof material, tree limbs, and garden bags.

UPDATE 4/1/2025 12:29 PM

Collection Schedule Tuesday, April 1

  • Trash/Recycling Collections: Tuesday Routes
  • Bulk Collections: Tuesday Routes
  • Brush/Storm Debris Collections: Tuesday Routes (97% Complete)

CURRENT PROGRESS: CrowderGulf has completed 97 percent of storm debris collection for areas on Tuesday's routes.

WHY ARE TUESDAY'S ROUTES TAKING LONGER? Tuesday's routes experienced the highest volume of storm debris, leading to extended cleanup times. As crews move to other days’ routes, collection should become faster. However, some routes are farther from the landfill, and factors such as travel time and landfill operating hours can impact collection times.

WHAT'S NEXT: Crews will begin working on Wednesday's routes and continue until completion, following the order of regular collection days from Tuesday through Monday.

MISSED COLLECTION: This could be due to obstructions such as vehicles blocking items or improper placement. Make sure bulk and storm debris piles are separated by at least 3 feet at the curb (not in the alley). Trucks may also temporarily skip areas with obstacles like low branches, power lines, or narrow roadways, with a loader returning later if needed. After CrowderGulf finishes collecting all routes in the City, they will assess if a second pass is necessary.

Carrollton residents can also drop off up to 3 cubic yards of storm debris for free at the Camelot Landfill on Saturday, April 5 with a valid ID and water bill. Debris must be secured, and commercial vehicles are not allowed.

PLACEMENT REMINDERS:

  • Items can be placed loosely or in garden bags; tree branches do not need to be bundled.
  • Debris can remain at the curb until collected.
  • Bag loose trash and place all trash (including yard waste) in green roll cart. Secure the roll cart when not in use.

STORM/BRUSH VS. BULK: Republic Services will continue to pick up regular trash, recycling, and household bulk items. CrowderGulf is collecting storm debris and yard waste. Storm debris, brush, and bulk items can remain by the curb until collected.

UPDATE 03/31/2025 12:04 PM

  • Bulk Collections: Monday Routes
  • Brush/Storm Debris Collections: Tuesday Routes (90% Complete)

Republic Services has completed Friday’s bulk pickup, and all regular household bulk collection is back on schedule across the City.

Over the weekend, CrowderGulf crews collected 1,680 cubic yards of bulk waste and are already 90 percent finished with Tuesday’s route. As cleanup efforts continue, the City will continue to cover landfill fees this Saturday, April 5 to support residents during this recovery period. • Brush/Storm Debris Collections: Tuesday Routes (60% Complete)

UPDATE 3/26/2025 11:03 AM

Crews are working hard to collect all storm debris as quickly and safely as possible. However, delays can occur due to trucks filling up quickly, time needed to unload at the landfill, and other logistical factors. The City appreciates citizens' patience as storm debris pickup continues.

BRUSH/STORM DEBRIS: CrowderGulf crews have finished about 40 percent of Tuesday’s routes so far – collecting a total of 2,425 cubic yards, equal to approximately 11 full-size school buses worth of storm debris. They will stay in the Tuesday area until all of it is done before moving on to Wednesday routes.

Larger trucks may temporarily skip areas if there are obstacles (i.e. low branches, power lines, narrow roadways, etc.), with a smaller truck returning later to collect. Piles blocked by vehicles or obstacles will not be collected.

BULK COLLECTION: Republic Services finished Monday, March 24, bulk routes on Tuesday, March 25, and will begin Tuesday routes on Wednesday, March 26. REMINDER: CrowderGulf is currently only collecting storm debris, while Republic Services works on bulk.

TRASH/RECYCLING: Trash and recycling are currently on schedule with Wednesday routes being serviced today.

PLACEMENT GUIDELINES: Residents should follow placement guidelines to ensure the fastest pickup.

  • Avoid parking vehicles in front of either pile to avoid being skipped.
  • Do not place debris around mailboxes or streetlights or obstruct access to fire hydrants.

UPDATE 3/25/2025 11:21 AM

BRUSH/STORM DEBRIS: Tuesday routes are estimated to be about 25 percent completed. CrowderGulf began Tuesday routes on Monday, March 24, and have already collected 1,250 cubic yards, the equivalent of 1,000 queen-sized mattresses. The targeted area will be serviced until completion, following the order of regular collection days from Tuesday to Monday.

Larger trucks may temporarily skip areas if there are obstacles (i.e. low branches, power lines, narrow roadways, etc.), with a smaller truck returning later to collect. Piles blocked by vehicles or obstacles will not be collected.

BULK COLLECTION: Republic Services has finished Monday’s boom routes (oversized items) and about 70 percent of Monday’s bulk (smaller items). They will work to finish the rest today. CrowderGulf is currently only collecting storm debris, while Republic Services works on bulk.

TRASH/RECYCLING: Trash and recycling are currently on schedule with Tuesday routes being serviced today.

PLACEMENT GUIDELINES: Residents should follow placement guidelines to ensure the fastest pickup.

  • Keep bulk and storm debris in separate piles with at least three feet between them.
  • Allow 16 feet of overhead clearance above piles.
  • Avoid parking vehicles in front of either pile to avoid being skipped.
  • Do not place debris around mailboxes or streetlights or obstruct access to fire hydrants.
  • Do not place debris on top of gas meters or sprinkler lines/heads.

LANDFILL DROPOFF: The City will cover the cost for residents to drop off up to three cubic yards of storm debris at Camelot Landfill (580 Huffines Boulevard) this Saturday, March 29. Bring a valid ID and water bill. Debris must be secured with a tarp. No commercial vehicles are allowed.

UPDATE 3/20/2025 5:28 PM

The City of Carrollton has contracted with CrowderGulf Disaster Recovery & Debris Management to collect storm debris from residential addresses starting Monday, March 24. Republic Services will continue to pick up regular trash, recycling, and bulk waste on residents’ usual collection day.

Republic Services and City crews have already collected more than 1.8 million pounds (925.7 tons) of bulk and brush since March 3.

STORM DEBRIS COLLECTION: This collection is exclusively intended for specific storm cleanup items: fencing materials and vegetative debris such as tree branches, leaves, and twigs. These items may be placed loosely or in a garden bag and do not have to be bundled. Debris should be set at the curb in front of the house, not blocking any part of the street or sidewalk, regardless of where the usual trash collection is conducted. Residents can leave debris at the curb until it is collected. Commercial customers, including apartments and HOAs, should use their paid commercial service to remove storm debris.

Tuesday-RoutesCOLLECTION SCHEDULE: After conducting an assessment of the City, debris experts from CrowderGulf estimated 25,000 cubic yards of debris needing to be collected, and also determined that the areas on Tuesday’s collection routes were the most severely impacted. Therefore, the City has contracted with CrowderGulf to begin collections on Tuesday’s normal trash route on Monday, March 24.

Tuesday’s entire route will be serviced until completed. Debris management crews will follow the order of regular collection days from Tuesday through Monday until the collection is complete.

Trucks may skip areas temporarily to address obstacles such as low branches, power lines, or narrow roadways, with a wheel loader returning later to gather the debris where a truck can collect it. The entire route will be serviced before trucks move on to the next. However, piles blocked by vehicles or other obstacles will not be collected.

Residents can find their route for regular trash pickup by clicking here

BULK/BRUSH: Due to continued windy weather conditions and the volume of materials, Republic Services is collecting brush/bulk on Monday routes.

Ensure loose trash is bagged and placed securely in the cart. When not placed for collection, roll carts should be secured to avoid being knocked over by the wind.

PLACEMENT GUIDELINES: Residents should follow placement guidelines to ensure the fastest pickup:

  • Keep bulk and storm debris in separate piles with at least 3 feet between them.
  • Allow 16 feet of overhead clearance above piles.
  • Avoid parking vehicles in front of either pile to avoid being skipped.
  • Do not place debris around mailboxes or street lights or obstruct access to fire hydrants.
  • Do not place debris on top of gas meters of sprinkler lines/heads.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: All lanes of Dickerson Parkway from W. Frankford Road to Wainwright Way remain closed due to downed power lines from yesterday's severe weather. Public Safety crews have closed the roadway and are rerouting traffic while Oncor is on-site making repairs. There is currently no estimated time for reopening, as completion depends on Oncor's repairs. Avoid the area and use alternate routes.

OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS: The City understands the concerns about yesterday’s (3/4) storm and the decision to not activate the outdoor warning sirens. Carrollton's Office of Emergency Management only activates sirens (for high winds only) when there’s confirmed wind on the ground that exceeds 70 to 75 mph producing damage, and based on time of day, since the sirens are only meant to be heard outdoors.

Before the storm's arrival, National Weather Service (NWS) radar indicated wind speeds typical of a spring severe thunderstorm, and there were no spotter ground reports exceeding 75 mph, which contributed to the decision to not activate the sirens at such an early hour. In contrast, on May 28, 2024, sirens were used due to confirmed ground winds of 80 to 90 mph and significant damage.

Sirens are reserved for extreme, verified winds or rare "destructive storm" warnings, neither of which applied at the time. The first ground report of wind speeds in excess of 80 mph came from Carrollton only after the storm passed, allowing the NWS to update its data and alert surrounding cities to activate their sirens. Whereas on May 28, 2024, sirens were used due to confirmed ground winds in other cities of 80-90 mph with significant damage prior to it’s arrival in Carrollton.

For more information, find Outdoor Warning Siren Systems at cityofcarrollton.com/emergencymanagement

UPDATE 3/4/2025 6:04PM

The City of Carrollton has been hard at work responding to the aftermath of this morning’s severe weather. City crews have cleared debris in the streets and roads are accessible.

FACILITIES: Several City facilities, including Rosemeade Recreation Center and three fire stations, are currently operating on generator power. Internet access is unavailable at Crosby Recreation Center and Hebron & Josey Library, but both facilities are still open to the community. Indian Creek Golf Course is expected to reopen Saturday after taking heavy wind damage. Oak Creek Tennis Center took similar damage and it is uncertain when it will reopen.

WIND ADVISORY: The Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service on Monday, March 3 remains in effect until 9 p.m. tonight, March 4, with sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. Residents should secure all lightweight outdoor furniture.

POWER OUTAGES: Oncor is working to restore power to 13,511 remaining customer accounts. CoServ is currently reporting no outages.

downedtree

Officials estimate it could take up to two days to fully restore service to all customers. Those experiencing outages should text OUT to 66267, call 888-313-4747, or use the MyOncor app. Reminder: Power is controlled by the resident’s energy provider, Oncor or CoServ, not the City. Treat downed power lines with extreme caution – stay away, warn others, and call 911 immediately.

At the storm’s peak, 46 traffic signals throughout the City lost power. The power to 22 traffic signals have now been restored and nine currently have temporary stop signs as work continues on those still affected.

TRASH & RECYCLING: Trash, recycling, and bulk pickups will run as scheduled tomorrow, March 5.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT: As a reminder, residents can help the City assess the storm’s damage by filling out the voluntary Damage Assessment Form: http://arcg.is/15m98 (Note: This form does not affect insurance claims but helps Emergency Management document the storm’s impact).

Severe Morning Storm Blows Through North Texas

 3/04/25 11:35 a.m.

Carrollton Public Works crews are clearing debris and repairing traffic signals after this morning’s straight-line wind, rain, thunderstorm, and tornado watch event on Tuesday, March 4. While power outages and fallen tree limbs have been reported, damage appears less severe than last May’s storm. Drive cautiously, watch for debris, and treat non-functioning signals as four-way stops.

LOST POWER?  Power is controlled by the resident’s energy provider, Oncor or CoServ. In the event of a power outage, call your service provider.

  • Oncor
Report power outages by calling 888-313-4747, texting O-U-T to 66267, downloading the MyOncor app, or visiting https://stormcenter.oncor.com/.
  • CoServ
Report power outages by texting OUT to 855-938-3496 or visit CoServ.com/OutageMap for estimated restoration times and other updates.

For an emergency, call 911 (when to call 911).  For non-emergencies, call 972-466-3333 or *247 on mobile.

TRASH & RECYCLING: Republic Services is running regular routes, but delays are expected. To help speed up service, set bins upright and clear any spilled items, as Republic cannot service toppled bins or collect debris from the ground. If your bin is missing, check with neighbors before requesting a replacement.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT:  If your property was impacted, help the City assess the damage by filling out the voluntary Damage Assessment Form: http://arcg.is/15m98. Note: This form does not affect insurance claims but helps Emergency Management document the storm’s impact.
