Carrollton General Election & Special Election for Bond Propositions Set for May 2

Carrollton City Council, at the Tuesday, February 3 meeting, ordered both a General Election and a Special Election for bond propositions to be held Saturday, May 2. The General Election will fill vacancies for the expired terms of Mayor and At-Large Places 2, 4, and 6, while the Special Election will allow voters to weigh in on city-wide funding propositions for permanent public improvements to streets/public ways as well as public safety, recreation, municipal court, and Library facilities.

Informational filing packets for prospective candidates are available in the City Secretary’s Office at City Hall (1945 E. Jackson Road). Packets and completed applications are available by appointment. Email the City Secretary at citysecr@cityofcarrollton.com or call 972-466-3003 to schedule an appointment. The deadline to file is Friday, February 13. The last day to declare as a write-in candidate is Tuesday, February 17.

Special Election informational booklets on the bond propositions will be made available to the public by the end of February.

Residents must be registered to vote no later than Thursday, April 2 to be eligible to vote in this election. For voter registration information and polling location information, residents are encouraged to visit their respective County’s website. Dallas County voters can visit dallascountyvotes.org; Denton County voters can visit votedenton.gov; and Collin County voters can visit collincountytx.gov/elections. Voters can determine or confirm their County by visiting cityofcarrollton.com/elections for an interactive district map tool.

Early Voting will run from Monday, April 20 through Tuesday, April 28.
