The City of Carrollton Marketing Services department was honored with two TAMI Awards and One Silver Star Award at the annual Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) annual conference on June 13 in San Antonio.
A first place TAMI Award was given to Carrollton for “Special Event – All Populations” for the September 2007 ‘Carrollton Welcomes DART’ Groundbreaking. In reviewing the entry, judges noted that the event was ‘very thorough in planning and coverage.’ Carrollton’s second TAMI Award was earned in the “Marketing – Plan or Campaign” category for the City’s ‘The Future is Right on Track’ transit-oriented development campaign. This category’s judges remarked that the materials were ‘thorough and engaging.’
“A cohesive branding package made a real difference as we went into the market for developers,” said Peter Braster, Transit-Oriented Development Manager for the City of Carrollton. “The materials were an important part of our overall message – we are ready.”
The second place Silver Star Award was given to the City in the “Special Publication – Population over 100,000” category for its City Goals wheel, which provided citizens and employees alike with information on Council priorities. Judges commented that the piece is “very unique and different…This is an idea I will use!” City Goals wheels are available to the public at City Hall and Library facilities.
