The City of Carrollton will celebrate the rockets’ red glare with the annual Independence Day Fireworks Show over Josey Ranch Lake on Friday, July 3 after sunset.
Enjoy a spectacular display of star-spangled fireworks at 9:30 p.m. over Josey Ranch Lake (1700 Keller Springs Road). Residents are encouraged to view the fireworks from surrounding neighborhoods or from one of the available parking areas. There will be no on-site event, however, viewing from the grassy area around the site is allowed.
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, photo ops will be set up in Josey Ranch Sports Complex (1440 Keller Springs Road), Jimmy Porter Park (2105 N. Josey Lane), and the Josey Ranch Lake area. A rainout date of Sunday, July 5 has been scheduled for the same time.
Earlier in the day on July 3, an Independence Day Concert at the Carrollton Senior Center (1720 Keller Springs Road) will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the entire family is invited to enjoy patriotic music provided by The New Horizons Band. No registration is required, but space is limited. A free lunch will be served on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. One lunch per person; individuals must be on-site to receive a lunch.
Whether viewing the fireworks or not, remember to bring pets inside as the sights and sounds of Independence Day celebrations can be frightening for the community’s furry friends. In case of escape, make sure pets are wearing a collar with an identification tag, are microchipped, and are registered with the City.
Carrollton Fire Rescue reminds citizens it is illegal to possess, manufacture, store, sell, handle, or discharge fireworks within Carrollton city limits. While all fireworks are illegal, this does include Class C consumer fireworks and most over-the-counter items such as bottle rockets, Roman candles, sparklers, spinners, and sparkle fountains.
According to the latest fireworks injury data released by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, an estimated 14,700 people were treated in U.S. hospital emergency rooms for fireworks-related injuries in 2024, a significant increase from the previous year. Adults ages 25 to 44 accounted for the largest share of injuries, while burns remained the most common injury type.
