Community members may notice specialized e-bikes operating on City-maintained sidewalks through mid-September as part of a City project to assess sidewalk conditions.

The City of Carrollton has contracted with Roadway Asset Services, LLC (RAS), an asset management and surveying firm, to conduct the assessment and update Carrollton's sidewalk inventory.

RAS operates a fleet of specialized e-bikes equipped with digital cameras and sensors that help state and local transportation agencies inventory and manage sidewalks, transportation infrastructure, and other public assets. For this project, the e-bikes will travel throughout Carrollton on City-maintained sidewalks to collect the information needed for the assessment. To capture the highest-quality imagery, the e-bikes will operate only during daylight hours.
