Carrollton Awarded Building Officials Association of Texas 2010 “Award for Excellence”

Carrollton, TX –The City of Carrollton’s Development Services Department was presented with the Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT) 2010 Award for Excellence for a mid-size jurisdiction on February 24. The award recognizes Texas cities for professional and outstanding contributions to the building industry through customer service and performance. The department was recognized for its plan review and inspection response time, staff licenses and certifications, model code utilization and overall leadership role in the development and construction community.

Brett King, Plan Review & Permitting Manager for Development Services said, “This award confirms the department’s overall commitment to the City Council’s vision for a business-friendly environment that achieves high levels of success. We are proud to be recognized for our professionalism and contributions to the community.”

About the City of Carrollton Development Services Department:
The Development Services Department oversees the inspection and permitting, and development processes that fall under building inspection, planning and transit-oriented development. The department’s mission statement is “To ensure life safety and enhance our community by applying construction codes and development standards through professional solution-oriented services.” The department goals for the coming year include sustaining the community, operating City government as a competitive service business, reflecting and promoting a positive image of the community, as well as encouraging new development as a means to expand tax base and improve quality of life.
