The role of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee is to monitor operational standards to ensure compliance with Section 823 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.

Committee Members

The Animal Shelter Advisory Committee consists of six members, which include:

One veterinarian
One City official
One person responsible for daily operations of the Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center
One member of the animal rescue community, and
Two citizen members serving on the Neighborhood Advisory Commission

The committee meets at least three times a year, or more often as needed.

Discussion Points	Meeting notes from April 14, 2025, were approved with no questions. Members were advised there are 6 active nesting sites, but no rookeries have occurred in residential neighborhoods. Staff will continue to respond to concerns, and we will monitor nesting sites. Members were advised routine mosquito surveillance has started and no positives have occurred. CAS purchased two new sprayers for the new season; they have been tested and work great. Members were also provided with information on how we respond to complaints of mosquitoes. Animal Services offered an Animal Services Officer position to our top candidate, they have accepted and will tentatively start September 15^th. Members were advised the draft ordinance legal review is complete and it is now being tentatively scheduled for City Council consideration in September. Asilomar Report for October 1, 2024 through July 14, 2025 was discussed. Current FY2025 monetary donations balance is $18,334.34.Current FY2025 material donations include: 0 lbs. of litter 1,370 lbs. of dry dog food 347 lbs. of dry cat food 737 oz. of wet cat food 25 oz. of wet dog food Current value of FY2025 material donations is $22,965 Pet Supplies Plus Adoption Event held on April 12, 2025, resulted in 5 cat, 1 rabbit, and 3 dog adoptions, as well as $50 in monetary donations. Riverchase Animal Hospital Grand Opening Event held on April 24, 2025, resulted in no adoptions. Holy Covenant Community Outreach/Vaccination Event held on May 18, 2025, resulted in 32 rabies vaccinations given and 27 city registrations. Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination Event held on May 24, 2025, resulted in 180 animals seen and 39 city registrations. OPK Drive-Thru Vaccination Event held on June 7, 2025, resulted in 93 animals seen, 6 microchips implanted, and 49 city registrations. Pet Supplies Plus Adoption Event held on July 13, 2025, resulted in 4 Parakeet, 6 cat, and 3 dog adoptions.
