General Information

  • The Property Standards Board / Board of Adjustment meets the fourth Thursday of each month, as needed, at 6:30 p.m. The Property Standards Board/ Board of Adjustment meeting will be held online, and closed to in-person attendance by the public at City Hall. A temporary suspension of certain provisions of the Open Meetings Act to allow telephone or videoconference has been granted by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. These actions are being taken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Telephonic and videoconferencing capabilities will be utilized to allow individuals to address the Property Standards Board/ Board of Adjustment Members. 
  • Application dates for submitting requests is the fourth Wednesday of each month prior to the date of the meeting 
  • The approval of the board does not constitute the issuance of a building permit, but if the case is approved by the board, staff will process the application and issue the permit 
  • The PSB board hears and decides appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the Building Official and Fire Marshal relative to the application and interpretation of building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire and housing codes, as well as the visibility ordinance 
  • The BOA is empowered by state law:
    • to review and make exceptions to the City's Zoning Ordinance,
    • exceptions to the City Sign Ordinance, and
    • other administrative decisions of the City
  • The board consists of nine members
