General Information

  • Your first interaction with the City of Carrollton may be with our Permit Technicians.
  • Permit Technicians process permit applications, collect fees, and verify contractor registrations are current.

Permit Processing

  • Permit applications are accepted online through the CityServe Portal. If you are unable to apply online, you may come in person to apply through our kiosk in the Building Inspection department.
  • The City issues one permit per project. All contractors, including the general contractor must register and stay current with the City.
  • Permits will not be issued until all contractors are registered.
  • Any contractor whose registration has expired prevents any further inspections being requested, even if that contractor’s work is complete.
  • Most single-trade permits are issued “over the counter”, unless additional information is required for review.

Contractor Registration

  • Register through the CityServe Portal.
  • A copy of a government-issued photo ID or Driver License is required.
  • A copy of the state license is required for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Irrigation, and Fire Alarm/Fire Sprinkler contractors.
  • A copy of the Certificate of Insurance is required for Paving and Utility contractors. For Plumbing contractors, TSBPE website must show active COI.
  • Verification of state licenses will be made at the time the permit is approved.
  • Contractor registration is renewable annually.
  • Contractor registration is free.
