The Neighborhood Partnership Office is excited to continue its volunteer recognition program! Carrollton is grateful for the quality and quantity of volunteers we have, and we know that many of our important programs and services would not be possible without them.

This year we will be accepting nominations for four awards, the Neighborhood Leadership Award, The Outstanding Community Organization Award and the Volunteer of the Year Award! Anyone can nominate a special neighborhood volunteer, team, non-profit or organization in the community, and if you know more than one, we invite you to submit multiple nominations.

Nominees must have served the community of the City of Carrollton. Nominations MUST be made through the Neighborhood Partnership Office at communitydevelopment@cityofcarrollton.com or call us at 972-466-4299

Awards

Neighborhood Leadership Award

The Neighborhood leadership award is designed to recognize adults in the Carrollton community who have taken a proactive role in addressing the needs of Carrollton residents. Examples of volunteer efforts are beautification projects, outstanding board leadership or accountability, youth projects, church community outreach projects, crime watch, inter-cultural projects, and social causes. Nominees can serve neighborhood associations, churches, non-profits, PTAs, or any other self-organizing group that serves the City of Carrollton. Their efforts must have contributed outstanding service tot heir community.

Selection

  1. nominees should be at least 18 years of age.  
  2. Award selections are based on the nominee’s volunteer efforts and commitment of time, accomplishments, community impact and enhancement of the lives of others, as described on the nomination form.
  3. Nominee must have been active in the 2018 calendar year.
  4. The Commission selects recipients of the Awards, based on the selection criteria.
  5. Recipients of the Awards are selected based on merit – without regard to race, religion, gender, national origin, or physical/mental disability.

 

Outstanding  Community Organization Award 

The Outstanding Community Organization Award is designed to recognize active organizations giving back to the Carrollton community. Nominees can be an organization, team, or non-profit. Types of organizations eligible for nomination include neighborhood associations, non-profits, PTAs, religious houses of worship, youth groups, or any other self-organized group.

Selection

  1. Organizations must be composed of three or more members and have pre-defined goals and utilize strategy to reach a successful completion.  
  2. Award selections are based on the nominee’s volunteer efforts and commitment of time, accomplishments, community impact and enhancement of the lives of others, as described on the nomination form.
  3. The service must be in Carrollton or benefit the residents of Carrollton.
  4. The Commission selects recipients of the Awards, based on the selection criteria.
  5. Recipients of the Awards are selected based on merit – without regard to race, religion, gender, national origin, or physical/mental disability.

Carrollton Parks & Rec Jimmy Porter Award

To Learn about the Jimmy Porter Award, for a City of Carrollton Youth League coach.

Volunteer of the Year Award

The Carrollton Volunteer of the Year Award is for distinguished service to a City of Carrollton department or program. nominees must volunteer for City of Carrollton activities in coordination with city staff or employees. Examples are Boards and Commissions, Citizen Patrol, Animal Care, and Library.

Selection

  1. Nominees must be 14 years of age.

  2. Nominee must be engaged in volunteer activities with a City of Carrollton department in 2018.

  3. Award selections are based on the nominee’s volunteer efforts and commitment of time, accomplishments, community impact, and enhancement of the lives of others, as described on the nomination form.

  4. Volunteers must have served for a minimum of one year.

  5. The Commission selects recipients of the Awards, based on the selection criteria. 

  6. Recipients of the Awards are selected based on merit – without regard to race, religion, gender, national origin, or physical/mental disability.

    Awards will be announced at the 12th annual Citizen’s Evening at the Carrollton Senior Center, Texas Ballroom.
