Outdoor irrigation systems are one of the biggest water robbers in many homes. Broken sprinkler heads, overspray, and poorly timed watering schedules can waste large amounts of water.

Carrollton’s Save Water by the Yard is a free sprinkler inspection program that includes a consultation with a licensed irrigation expert. The inspection includes checking the sprinkler system control box settings, walking the system lines for leaks and malfunctioning sprinkler heads, and sharing tips on maintenance and water conservation.

Free irrigation system inspections are available from April 1 through September 30 or until program funds run out. Residential customers who previously participated in 2024 or 2025 are ineligible for an inspection in 2026.
