This month we will continue the Denver drill as well as do a station level SCBA drill in the maze. We will continue to coordinate crews down to the training building for the Denver drill, which will contain a classroom portion as well as a hands on portion showing several different techniques for firefighter rescue.

As for the SCBA training portion, please schedule an open time with your BC to go to the training building and do maze training. Everyone should go through the maze once with the lights on, then with the lights off. Change the configuration of the maze to challenge yourself. Practice getting your webbing and wire cutters out of your pockets. Then let one of the crew members simulate a victim in the maze and call a Mayday. Send a crew in to rescue the simulated victim with RIT bag and tools needed. Practice the victim removal techniques covered in January’s monthly training. Please reference the SOPs/SOGs below:
