Policies

Computer users must follow the:

*All Library visitors are subject to the Library's Code of Conduct.

Avoid Locking Yourself Out of Your Session

Do NOT use the Windows lock computer function by pressing Windows key ⊞ + L or you will lose access to your session and any work you have done.

Follow the Hide My Screen section instructions below to protect your privacy when stepping away from a public computer session instead.

Time

Jobs held in the print queue for 3 hours.
Unreleased print jobs are purged after 3 hours and cannot be retrieved.

Cost

Black and White - $0.15/page,
Color - $0.50/page.
Double-sided or duplex-printed pages are charged per side.

Paper

Select ONLY standard U.S. paper sizes: Letter (8.5x11), Legal (8.5x14), Ledger/Tabloid (11x17).
No special paper, labels, etc. can be added to printer.

Optimize Prints at Computer Before Releasing

The printer only prints what is sent to it. The computer is what determines how a print job looks.

The suggestions below can help you avoid paying for blank pages or pages that do not look as you expect.

Use PRINTER-FRIENDLY links, especially in EMAIL.
Use PRINT PREVIEW to see how your print job will look.
Only print pages you WANT by typing a page range or page number in Pages section of print dialog box.
Use Adobe Reader print button for PDFs not the browser Print button.
Check for blank pages at END of your document BEFORE printing.

Not sure how something will print? Ask staff for help at the computer BEFORE printing.

Pay attention to the selected printer at the computer to make sure your jobs will print the way you want.

Black and White Printing

JRL Black and White -- single-sided prints
JRL Duplex Black and White -- double-sided prints
HJ Black and While -- single-sided prints
HJ Duplex Black and White -- double-sided print

Color Printing

JRL Color -- single-sided prints
JRL Duplex Color -- double-sided prints
HJ Color -- single-sided prints
HJ Duplex Color -- double-sided prints

Paying and Releasing at the EasyPay Self-Service Station

How-to Release Prints

Tap Release My Press Jobs on the EasyPay Self-Service Station screen.
Enter your card number or guest pass information to find your job(s).
Select job(s) then tap Print in upper left corner.
Select Pay From Vending Device to pay with cash or Pay From Credit Card to pay with a card, Apple Pay, or Google Wallet. See Payment Options section below for specifics about forms of payment accepted.
Insert card, tap phone/watch, or add money to the vending device. Wait to click OK on this Vending Deposit pop-up window until ALL money has been added.
Job(s) will print. Change due is automatically returned.

Saving Files

Saving to Keep

Save to your USB flash drive.
- Flash drives are sold at the Service Desk.
Save to the computer then email to yourself or upload to your online drive such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.

Saving to the Computer

You can save a file to the computer temporarily to:

Attach it to an email.
Upload it to a website.
Print an attachment to an email
- Attachments often do not print correctly unless downloaded.

Click the folder icon for File Explorer in the Task Bar, then look in Downloads or Documents to find the file you saved.

Deleting Files Saved to Computer

Files saved to the computer are automatically deleted when you log off.
To manually delete your file*:
- Close the file if it is open.
- Use the File Explorer link (looks like a file folder) on the Task Bar to find your file
- Click once to select it
- Use the delete key on the keyboard to delete it.

*Be cautious deleting files, especially on your USB flash drive. The Library computer profile for customers does NOT have access to the Recycle Bin, so there is NO WAY to retrieve a file once deleted.

Hide My Screen

You cannot use the Windows lock computer function (Windows key ⊞ + L to protect your privacy on public computers.

You will instead use Hide My Screen to stop others from seeing your screen when you step away from the computer.

Click the blue Options button.
Choose Hide My Screen
Enter a temporary password to use to resume your session on the Hide This Screen window. Tip: Click the eye icon at end of the password field to see the password in plain text to avoid typing mistakes.
Click the Hide My Screen button.
When back at computer, press any key or click the mouse.
Enter the password and click Resume Session button.
Repeat these steps every time you step away from the computer.
