What TAC Is

Teen Advisory Council - called TAC for short - is a group of teens that meets once a month to help shape Carrollton Public Library services and materials for teens in the community.

Members collaborate with the Teen Librarian to:

  • Plan upcoming events and Library programs
  • Determine the best ways for the Library to help local teens access Library services and materials.
  • Volunteer for youth events and programs

  • Attending meetings
  • Helping to lead and promote teen programs
  • Creating recommended book lists
  • Assisting in youth and teen programs and events

Develop Skills

  • Gain planning experience by helping design teen programs
  • Build cooperative skills by collaborating with other teens in your community
  • Obtain leadership positions

Give Back to Community

  • Have a direct impact on the services and books provided to teens in the community
  • Help prepare for and host big teen Library events

Requirements to Apply

  • Ages 13-18
  • 1 letter of recommendation from a non-relative adult due by application deadline
  • Available 4 hours per month to attend meetings and other TAC events 

How to Join

  1. Starting June 1, applicants may download this Carrollton Public Library Teen Advisory Council 2025 - 2026 Application or ask staff at either Library location for a copy.
    • Application is not a fillable PDF and must be completed by hand then scanned into a computer along with the recommendation letter if you want to email your application.
    • Applications are due by August 1.
  2. Read all the information included in the TAC application concerning attendance and expectations and complete the entire application.
    • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  3. Submit your application and letter of recommendation from a non-relative adult via email to the email address below by August 1.

  4. Interviews will be scheduled during August.
