Volunteer Opportunities with the Library
We have several ongoing and one-time volunteer opportunities at both Library locations. These opportunities include assisting with:
- Clerical work
- Routine tasks
- Library programming
We do not have volunteer opportunities to read to children.
Free account setup on the Carrollton's Volunteer Portal on Galaxy Digital is required to see current volunteer opportunities.
Minimum Age
13 is the minimum age to volunteer at the Library.

Age 18+ Volunteers
All volunteers aged 18+ will be required to:
- Pass an annual background check
- Background check is started by completing a form linked on the Volunteer Portal
- Submit a one-time e-signed waiver on the Volunteer Portal
Age 13-17 Volunteers
All volunteers aged 13-17 will be required to:
- Have a parent or guardian complete a notarized minor consent form
- Consent form is linked on the Volunteer Portal
- Submit a one-time e-signed waiver on the Volunteer Portal
- Teen volunteer AND a parent or guardian must both e-sign
Volunteer with the Friends of the Carrollton Public Library
Book Sorting
The Friends of the Library have a limited number of volunteer opportunities every Saturday sorting book sale donations. The location changes each week. They also need volunteers during the spring and fall book sales.
A signed waiver is required from ANYONE who volunteers with the Friends. The waiver must include a parent's signature for anyone under the age of 18.
Court-Appointed Community Service
The Library does NOT accept court-appointed volunteers.
