During cold winter months, a good book can take you on an adventure without leaving the comfort of a warm, cozy chair. Readers of all ages can participate in the Winter Reading Challenge and earn prizes!

Register

Register online at READsquared starting December 1 and start tracking your reading December 21

If you participated in the 2020 Summer Reading Program or the 2019 Winter Reading Challenge, use the same account instead of registering.

How It Works

1 minute = 1 point

Use points for drawing prize tickets or in the prize store.

How-To Instructions

Create Family Account

Family accounts let parents/guardians manage the accounts for ALL their children.

1. Click/tap the "Account" button AFTER creating your own account
2. Select "Add Child Account"
3. Follow the prompts

If the child's account has already been created, come into the Library and let us know, so we can link them to your account

Log Reading Time

1. Sign in to account on READsquared website or in mobile app
2. Click/tap Menu Button in upper right corner
3. Select "Logging"
4. Click/tap "Enter Activity" to add the amount of time that you read

If you want, you can track the books you read this summer by including the book title and author.

Log Time for a Missed Day

Follow the instructions above to log reading time then:

1. Double-click/tap in the line for "Date of Activity"
2. Pick the correct date on the calendar
3. Click/tap "Done"

Enter Drawing to Win Gift Card

1. Sign in to account on READsquared website or in mobile app
2. Click/tap "Prizes" tab
3. Click/tap "See the Prizes" to see how many people have entered the drawing for that prize
4. Click/tap "Get Tickets"
5. Click/tap on ticket for the prize you want to enter to win
6. Click/tap "Continue" to confirm the purchase of the ticket

Prize Pick-up

Completion Prize

Received when you read and log 20 hours (while supplies last)

Drawing Prizes

"Buy" drawing prize tickets for a chance to win a gift card with your reading points.

Prize Store

Spend your points on mystery silver or gold grab bags with a variety of prizes inside (while supplies last).

Registration and Accounts

Who Can Participate

Everyone of all ages! Children who are too young to read by themselves can participate with an adult. A Carrollton Public Library card is not required for participation, though it is encouraged.

NOTE: Prize pickup is ONLY done in person at the Library

Why Information Is Needed

Any registration fields marked with a red asterisk are required. Other fields are optional.

This information is used to contact prize winners, for reporting purposes, or for planning next year's program.

New Account Needed?

No! If you participated in this year's Summer Reading Program or last year's winter reading challenge, then you should be able to log in with your previous username and password.

Points and Prizes

What Counts

ANY time you spend reading ANYTHING between December 21 and February 21 can be logged for points

• Reading textbooks counts

• Required reading for class counts

Points

For every minute of reading that you log, all age groups earn 1 point. You can use these points to buy drawing tickets for a gift card OR to buy grab bags in the prize store.

Picking Up Prizes

You may pick up prizes from either Library starting December 28th until March 1, while supplies last.

Earn More Points

For the 2020 Winter Reading Challenge, the ONLY way to earn points is by reading.

How to Know if You Won

We will call or email the contact information you provided during registration.

First names of winners will also be released on Carrollton Public Library social media pages.
