MHAC generally meets in January, March, May, July, September, and November at 6:00 p.m. on the 2nd Wednesday at Crosby Recreation Center, 1610 E. Crosby Rd. All meetings are open to the public, and MHAC always welcomes any interested visitors.

Museum & Historic Advisory Committee (MHAC)

The Museum & Historic Advisory Committee consists of 9 members appointed by City Council. The Committee advises and makes recommendations to City Council regarding the preservation and protection of the City's architecturally and/or culturally significant resources for future generations. The Planning Department provides staff support to this committee.

Projects & Initiatives

  • Historic Research Survey
    • Historic Resource Survey was completed for the purpose of establishing a "living" document that will be updated and added to as new information becomes available.
  • Unveiling of Boatwright House Designation Marker
    • The Boatwright House, also known as the Vintage House or the Pink House, was officially recognized as the oldest standing structure in the City with a historical designation marker. 
  • Historical Designation Cleanup 
    • Comprehensive restoration efforts were undertaken, which included cleaning the markers, repainting those with deteriorating finishes, realigning markers, and bronzing older ones to ensure longevity and preservation.

Historical Designation Process - Parks and Recreation Ordinance (Ch. 133, sec. 21 of the City Code of Ordinance)

On May 6, 2003, City Council approved the Carrollton Heights Historic District zoning ordinance, which provides for development regulations different than other residential districts.
