Be Active

There are many reasons for seniors to live an active lifestyle that range from preventing injuries to improving mental health. Commit to being fit with self-directed cardio and strength training equipment that is top of the line at the Carrollton Senior Center. Take part in fitness orientations to show you the proper use of the fitness  equipment or a personal trainer who can take you to the next level. Join in with group fitness classes that make fitness fun with friends. There are an assortment of group fitness classes such as Stretch, Yoga, Aerobics, FUNctional Fitness and more. Obtain the health benefits of being active by playing enjoyable games such as chair volleyball or ping pong.

Keep Learning

Pursuing lifelong learning activities has benefits that go beyond boosting your brain power. There are several opportunities offered monthly to learn something new. Take part in monthly lunch and learn gatherings, mental health presentations, and health screenings. Technology classes will help you stay up to date with your devices. Catch a movie on the big screen with Movie Mondays. Volunteer opportunities and guidance positions with the Senior Center Advisory Council are also ways to get involved in new helpful ways.

Stay Social

Connection to peers, groups, and community contributes to wellbeing and reduces several risk factors. Staying social has never been more convenient than joining a group of likeminded individuals, such as book club, adult coloring, Red Hats Society, Reunion Hispania, and more. Themed monthly luncheons are scheduled at the senior center regularly for dining with friends. Out to lunch trips and excursions are planned for adventures through out DFW. Another way to meet new people is through card games, bingo and billiards that are played in several different forms through out each day. The Thursday Dance Night offers exhilarating fellowship that includes live music, refreshments and movement.

Get Creative

Embedding creative arts in your day-to-day routine is a great way to exercise the brain and get inspired by pursuing new activities. There are several different arts and craft groups that gather together to pursue new artistic endeavors such as knit and crochet, chalk art, painting, quilting, ceramics, and more. Actors coming together as a drama group that meets weekly to engage in theater games and improvisation that allows for a dynamic and expressive environment. Music with others can be incredibly rewarding, so there are sing along groups, guitar jam sessions and several bands that gather at the senior center for inspiration. Dance is also an exciting outlet to get involved with at the Carrollton Senior Center.
