8. Promote a safe learning environment.
9. Enhance safety in and around schools.
10. Present a positive role model for students and adults.

A Brief History:

The Carrollton Police Department’s School Resource Officer (SRO) program began in 1975 with the placement of a single officer in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD). In 1976, Carrollton PD and CFBISD formalized their partnership through the first inter-local agreement. By 1979, the program expanded to include two officers.

Over the decades, as Carrollton’s student population has grown, so has the SRO program. Today, the Carrollton Police Department has expanded its SRO presence to include:

  • 11 officers
  • 2 sergeants

These dedicated personnel are assigned to campuses across both CFBISD and Lewisville ISD (LISD) to ensure the safety, support, and positive development of students in our community.
