The Carrollton Police Department's Junior Police Academy is Back

This year's JPA is now full. Check back next summer!

Open to CURRENT 2020-2021 school year middle school students who live in or attend school in Carrollton, this free, week-long summer camp teaches kids the basics of law enforcement in a fun, hands-on experience.

Campers will learn about:

  • Traffic Stops
  • Building Searches
  • Crime Scene Investigations
  • Fingerprinting
  • Crisis Negotiations
  • K-9 Operations
  • SWAT Operations
  • ...and more!

Campers will also tour the police department and meet officers from our different divisions. The Fire Department might also make an appearance and give a tour of their fire trucks!

We were unable to put on the academy last summer due to COVID, but we are excited and ready to schedule the classes this summer.  COVID safety measures will be in place for our classes including reduced class size, social distancing, and requiring masks.

Classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis! Submit applications early as classes will fill up fast.  You will be able to rank the weeks in your order of preference and we will do our best to accommodate you. Students will only be admitted to one class week per summer as the same topics will be taught each week.
