The operating divisions of Public Works are Water Utilities and Streets, Drainage and Traffic Operations. Public Works offers a broad range of public services which includes repair and maintenance of the City's streets and alleys, storm drainage infrastructure maintenance, ensuring that the City has a safe and reliable supply of drinking water, providing safe and efficient collection of wastewater, operation of traffic signals throughout the City, and installing and maintaining traffic signs.


Carrollton is the first city in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to put into service a Public Works Emergency Response Team (PWERT) trailer and has just completed outfitting the unit for immediate operation.

Carrollton Public Works maintains the trailer in a climate-controlled facility at its Central Service Center (2711 Nimitz Drive) and readies the trailer for deployment when requested via a PWERT activation.
