When is my trash collection day?

Trash and bulk waste are collected one day each week from Carrollton single-family residences.

To determine your collection day visit the City's Waste Services Map, or call 972-466-4950.

  • When to Put Carts Out:
City ordinance requires residential waste to be out at the designated collection location (alley or street) no earlier than 6 p.m. of the evening before and no later than 6:30 a.m. of the collection day.

  • When to Remove Carts:
Remove bins from curbside no later than 9 a.m. the day following collection.

  • Know the Code:
Residents who do not remove containers after collection are violating City Ordinances. Report suspected code violations to 972-466-3060.

Holiday Schedule: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day collections will be delayed by one day.

Missed Collection?

Sometimes trash can't be collected because containers were blocked or were set out incorrectly. Check Cart Service Requirements below to make sure your bin was set out correctly.

If your trash was missed (and not because it was set out incorrectly),  fill out a missed collections form or call 972-466-4950.

Cart Service Requirements

Be sure to follow proper cart placement requirements to avoid potentially being skipped.

  • Make sure the lid on your cart can close (do not overfill carts) and opens facing the street. Nothing should block access to the cart.

  • Place trash carts, recycling carts, and other bulk waste in your designated collection area at least 3 feet away from each other.

  • Also make sure to place bins at least 3 feet away from mailboxes, gas meters, fences, parked cars, overhead obstacles and other items.

  • Do not block or impede a street or alley right-of-way, water or gas meter, drainage ditch, or sight triangle at an intersection or sidewalk.

  • Allow at least 16 feet of overhead clearance above the carts, and place them as close to the curb or alley as possible. Containers should not be placed under trees or powerlines.

Improperly placed or blocked waste will not be collected.

Can it be Recycled?

Not All Trash Is Created Equal

If you see danger, warning, caution, poison, corrosive, reactive, toxic, or flammable on a product label, do not put it in your bin.

This can include batteries, old paint (liquid), used motor oil, or other household chemicals.  It can be disposed of easily and for FREE for residential customers.
