Public Hearing is the opportunity for citizens/visitors to speak on specific items listed under the Public Hearing portion of the meeting agenda.
Citizens wishing to address the Council regarding non-Public Hearing items on the posted agenda or items not on the agenda will be called to speak during the appropriate portion of the meeting.
- Citizens/visitors should complete an appearance card located on the table at the entrance to the City Council Chambers.
- Speakers must address their comments to the presiding officer rather than to individual Council members or staff.
- Stand at the podium, speak clearly into the microphone and state your name and city of residence prior to beginning your remarks.
- The applicant will be allowed a maximum of 20 minutes to make a presentation and 10 minutes for rebuttal.
- Testimony should be concise and should present the City Council with information not substantially addressed by previous testimony.
- Individuals who do not wish to speak, but want to register support or opposition, should also fill out an appearance card. The Mayor will read each name into the record.
- No person will engage in disorderly or boisterous conduct, including, but not limited to, stamping feet, whistling, booing, or making any loud, threatening, profane, abusive, defamatory, personal, or impertinent utterance, that disturbs, disrupts, or otherwise impedes the orderly conduct of the meeting.
- The display of signs, placards, banners, or similar items that obstruct the rights of other would-be participants will not be permitted.
- Any person who does not comply with these provisions is subject to removal or forfeiting their right to attend a future meeting.
