2020 Candidates

This page contains information on public filings for elected office. The filings include applications for each candidate. Names are listed in order of filing.

As the following candidates are unopposed, they will be sworn in for office at the May 12, 2020 City Council Meeting.

The May 2, 2020 Municipal Election has been postponed until November 3, 2020 as recommended by the Governor's Proclamation issued March 18, 2020. Because the seats are contested, the following candidates will appear on the November 3, 2020 ballot for the City Election.

Candidate Packet
Informational Packets for prospective candidates are available in the City Secretary's Office located on the second floor of City Hall. The filing period begins January 15, 2020 and ends February 14, 2020. Applications will be accepted by the City Secretary's Office during City Hall's business hours (Monday-Thursday, 7:30am-5:30pm and Friday 7:30am-11:30am). On the last day of filing (February 14), the City Secretary will be in the office to accept applications until 5:00pm.

 

A Candidate Orientation will be held on January 29, 2020 in the City Council Briefing Room (2nd floor of City Hall) at 8:30am for residents interested in running for a seat in the May 2, 2020 Election.

 


 

Qualifications
Qualifications to serve are listed in Section 2.02 of the 
City Charter. The qualifications specify that a candidate must be a qualified voter of the City of Carrollton, must reside in the state of Texas for at least one year and in Carrollton or in an area within the corporate limits of Carrollton for at least 6 months, shall hold no other public office except that of a notary public or member of the National Guard or armed services, and not in arrears in payment of any taxes or other liability due to the City.
