The City of Carrollton will hold elections on May 1, 2021.
Municipal seats on the ballot will include Council Places 1, 3, 5, and 7.
Informational Packets for prospective candidates will be available in the City Secretary's Office located on the second floor of City Hall. The filing period begins January 13, 2021 and ends February 12, 2021. Applications will be accepted by the City Secretary's Office during City Hall's business hours (Monday-Thursday, 7:30am-5:30pm and Friday 7:30am-11:30am). On the last day of filing (February 12), the City Secretary will be in the office to accept applications until 5:00pm.
A Candidate Orientation will be held virtually on February 8, 2021 via Zoom at 8:30am for residents interested in running for a seat in the May 1, 2021 Election.

Council Places 1, 3, 5, and 7 are elected at-large, but must reside within the boundaries of their respective Place.

Qualifications to serve are listed in Section 2.02 of the City Charter. The qualifications specify that a candidate must be a qualified voter of the City of Carrollton, must reside in the state of Texas for at least one year and in Carrollton or in an area within the corporate limits of Carrollton for at least 6 months, shall hold no other public office except that of a notary public or member of the National Guard or armed services, and not in arrears in payment of any taxes or other liability due to the City.
