You can request Public Information in writing through the City Secretary's Office.

Once the request is received, the City Secretary's Office follows this process:

• The City Secretary's Office has 10 business days to respond.
  
  
  
  • Responses can include releasing records, asking for clarification, or requesting an opinion from the Attorney General if certain information is not considered public.

Attorney General 

• If the Attorney General's opinion is needed, it's because some of the information in the report may not be available to the public. These opinions are requested to protect both the City’s and individuals' interests.

• Once the opinion is requested, the City will send the information to the Attorney General within 5 days (on the 15th business day after the request is received).

• The Attorney General then has 45 business days to respond to both the City and the requestor.

• All communications between the City and the Attorney General will be shared with the requestor.

The City’s fees for public information are set by the Texas Attorney General's Office and can be found in the Texas Administrative Code §§ 70.1-.12.

• If the City sends you an estimate of the charges, you must respond within 10 days. If you don't, your request will be canceled.
  
  
• If the estimated costs are more than $100, the City may ask for a bond, prepayment, or deposit.
  
  
• Be sure to pay any agreed charges on time. If you have overdue balances over $100, the City can ask for payment or a deposit before processing more requests from you.
